This is my only complaint, the Title. The book is as complete as a general information type could be, a truly 'complete swap manual would have to be specific to one vehicle and one engine. this one gives excellent general info about the many different LS type GM motors and is perfect for getting started. Recommended as a first read prior to planning an engine replacement project, lots of great advice on which engine suits the readers needs and vehicle. Lots of suggestions as to getting more specifics as the project moves ahead. Lots of info regarding transmission issues too!

This has been a great comprehensive manual for an LS swap into my 73 Monte Carlo. This has been the single best source for information that I have come across yet. Makes it easy and interesting to learn about the differences in the LS platform motors and how to make power on a budget. Lots of interchangeability information and parts sources listed. Worth its' weight in gold!

Good book, I preferred it slightly more than the book "Chevy LS Engine Conversion Handbook", this one went into a little more detail and provided more examples.

Great companion to first book also has updated info to make the swap easier updated wiring and more aftermarket companies with support products. Starting to get together everything I need for second swap!!!!

Good primer on LS engines. As some reviews said it is not a step by step guide to cover every swap or even a full one. I have made me aware of what I will potentially be getting into. Good Book.

This is a fun guide to some great spots on the island of Oahu. We used the accurate maps in favor of a more detailed, but bulky, road map. It was like having a friend with us who was pointing out neat routes and points of interest. It really made our trip interesting and allowed us to take full advantage of having a car. Even after the trip, we enjoy looking up where we visited and sharing the details with friends.I recommend this as part of your travel kit for Oahu. Most guides are too general to Hawaii or too specific to Honolulu, but this one focuses so nicely on the entire island of Oahu and the highlights! It was also nice to use when we decided to have Hawaii movie night since the book notes where movies were filmed.

I was born and raised on Oahu. Had to move to California for work. On a recent trip home, I discovered this book. It updated me on how to find everything and a few places I didn't even know exisited. I outlined the best ways to get there too. It is an excellent resource to tour the islands and a wonderful keepsake reminder of where I came from

Since this author is a former smoker, she understands how hard it is to quit. But she also knows what it takes to quit. The book is well written. It is full of helpful insights, tips and information. While reading it, I felt she was talking directly to me and understood how I was feeling and what I was thinking. It's almost as if she knows me and is my personal quit smoking coach. The underlying theme of the book is, "you can do it and I can help you get there". It is positive and encouraging. She gives you activities that help you find your own personal motivation for quitting. She helps you find ways to focus on the benefits of not smoking, rather than telling why you should quit. We do not need one more person telling us we should quit. We need help not nagging or scolding or being made to feel guilty. I can't stress enough how positive this book is. I just started reading this book a few days ago. But after years of smoking and multiple times trying to quit, this book makes me believe I can do it. My Deepest thanks goes to the author for her generosity and for giving me a free copy of the book. Good luck to all of you on your Quit Smoking journey. God Bless!

This book is a wonderful resource. I am a tobacco treatment provider, and it is so nice to have much of the critical information available and well organized in one place. In addition to valuable information, this book also provides numberous exercises for people who are trying to quit. Different exercises tend to resonate with different people. This book allows those trying to quit to look at a wide array of options and select those that are most suited for them. I use excerpts from this book in my treatment programs, and recommend that my participants consider purchasing a copy for their personal use - as I feel it could be well utilized by motivated participants.

I love this little book! What a great idea to have a pocket sized set of tools to stay smoke free! The tips are direct, easy to read and to the point.The point, for me, is that even after I made the decision to stop smoking it has not always been easy to stay quit. This work is different. As a layperson Mauriac writes his reflections on what Holy Thursday personally means to him evidently after years of reflection on this holy time of year. It is refreshing and spiritually stimulating on all levels, as well as skillfully written. It was the first work of Mauriac that I had the chance to read and has since led me to read most of his other work. This was an easy but compelling read. Great balance between scientific and cultural/emotional background.

I picked this one up quickly. I'm a big fan of nature and the sea otter has always been on of my family's favorites. The author does a wonderful job of portraying the sea otter in all its glory: the good, the bad and the ugly. The author certainly did his due diligence in an extensive three years of research & field outings. He starts of by covering the history of the otter and deftly weaves it in with biology and ecology; coming up tto our present and the conundrums inherent in the natural world versus the commercial world. As is; unfortunately present - the readers finds himself, or herself looking at a contest between a human solutions that are natural versus an inhuman solutions that are commercial and corporate. So we have the sea otter exhibiting the dilemma of our times: nature versus corporate; public power versus private power.Todd McLeish seamlessly incorporates the theme of ecologies that are natural, juxtaposed to the commercial ones. The sea otter, an apex predator, plays a keystone role in the ecology of the sea forest, in adding to the abundance of life. This was the normal. But with the advent of the fur trade, an new normal took shape commercially. So that now, when discussing normal; there are two versions, natural and commercial.Also; the numerous facts that pepper the enriching pages, not only inform but bring about multiple understandings within several disciplines. They have the densest hair of any animal on earth; the only marine mammal with no blubber; the only Mustelid that does not dig a den or burrow; the only marine mammal that uses its paws rather than mouth to capture prey; and the only marine mammal capable of lifting and overturning rocks to find food; and one of the few mammals known to use tools. It's no wonder that, we as humans, adore the otter - so full of a representative living and playful spirit.An Entertaining, informative and important work regarding the ongoing battle between the natural world & the commercial one.

Finally, someone has given sea otters a serious look and assembled interesting and well-documented information accessible to the non-scientific community.Let's face it, sea otters are arguably some of the cutest marine animals that there are. Since this is the case we tend to romanticize them in many ways, e.g., as in the PIXAR movie, "Finding Dory."The reality is that sea otters that once had a natural range extending along the entire west coast of North America, across the Aleutian Islands and down the Kamchat peninsula of Russia were nearly hunted to extinction in the 1800s to meet the demand of the fur industry, mainly in China, and by the end of the 1800s there were so few otters remaining that that market collapsed. Only a few small groups of otters survived in central California, Alaska, the Aleutians and Russia. All sea otters descended from these survivors.Coastal ecosystems underwent significant changes once sea otters were removed and humans took advantage of food sources that became available in otters' absence.This book takes an unvarnished look at the miraculous recovery of sea otters, how this recovery affected coastal ecosystems where they are now found and how otters and humans affect each other.Be advised that many of the things you already think about sea otters will be confirmed and many other things will raise your eyebrows as you read,FYI, I am a marine biologist by training and earned my degree at UC Santa Cruz, a place that features prominently in this narrative. It was therefore extremely interesting for me to learn more about these iconic animals and the various roles they play in ecological and economic ways.5 stars all the way!

What a fun book. In this day and age where humans are killing endangered animals through ignorance, greed, spite and cruelty, it's great to hear the story of some creature making a comeback. I'll admit I'm also biased towards otters since they were my high school mascot, and it doesn't help that they do adorable things all the freaking time. There are also a few color pictures in the middle, which was a nice touch, but I would have liked even more. Probably twice as many. If you're doing a book on a specific animal, the more pictures of them doing what they do in their natural habitat is always a bonus.There are thirteen chapters in this book, each taking place in a different part of the West Coast - from Big Sur, CA to Anchorage, AK. Each chapter gives a timeline of that location. So you'll go from the decline to rise of the otter in each of those areas, along with some other information about the flora and fauna in the region. Not every chapter is positive though. Some are still pretty dark and negative, but that's unfortunately a fact of life when you have people killing animals for the sake of killing, or things dying from pollution and runoff because we, as a species, can't be bothered to clean up our own mess. It's still a fantastic and gripping read though and I highly recommend, even if you're not a huge otter fan. It's well written and each chapter is short enough for a stand alone read. It's a short book; about 222 pages, not counting acknowledgments or works cited. Each chapter is about 15-16 pages, meaning you can get through this book in a hurry and still savor the contents. I highly recommend this book

The artwork, the designs, are definitely deserving of five stars. I have only found two artists whose mandalas I love and one of them is Jade Summer. The result of using gel pens is stunning. The back of each sheet is black which prevents them from bleeding through, a definite plus. I give the book five stars because of the beauty of the designs . However, the paper chosen could have been thicker. I also wish the pages were perforated for easy removal. I would have gladly paid more, even if it were just the first fifty pages I am amazed at the number of designs. I doubt if I will complete the last half of the book. I definitely place quality above quantity. I hope future editions will just use the complete designs and incorporate a higher grade of paper and perhaps perforations or even a spiral binding. Summer's designs would be worth the additional cost.

The designs are a nice mix of complex and simple mandalas, a little variety. And of course there are 100 different mandalas so this book will keep me entertained for such a long time.Each mandalas has its own sheet, and the backsides of the sheets are black so there is no bleed through that Iâ€™ve noticed.Some of the mandalas are cut off on the edges because they surpass the edge of the sheet. As if the mandala wasnâ€™t sized to this smaller paper properly. The outlines of the mandalas were not a true black either. They look more like a gray color, itâ€™s as if the ink faded or was running out on the printer when this book was printed out.

Just received today. Not exactly what I was hoping for. I was really excited about it and when it came it was flimsy and a lot less sturdy then I was expecting. It seems like someone just printed it with copy paper and put it in the mail. The backside of each page is black but paper is not thick as in other books I have purchased (ex: Johanna Basford, Millie Marotta, Color-it). Will keep as I have a soft spot for Mandalas but was definitely expecting more from a Bestseller

I was very disappointed in this book and can't fathom why it's been rated so high by others. There is so much black ink in each mandala, you have to use bright colors to offset it, or it looks horrid. Also, the back of each page is black. Why?! It's very unsightly. I can't understand the high price for this one.

Recently just started this whole adult coloring thing and have come to love coloring mandalas! What I love about this book is that the pages are one-sided, with a total blacked out back page. The only thing is I wish that the pages were perforated. Since I color with markers, I've just been cutting them out with an exacto knife. But I love the range of designs in the book! For the holidays, all the family members that came and visited ended up coloring a page out of it!

Sadly they really missed the mark with this book. I was VERY disappointed with it. I thought for the price it would have been a really nice book however once I got it, I was so let down. The images are printed on thin dull colored paper like that of cheap children's coloring books. The pages have the image on one side and are printed solid black on the back. There's a lot of black incorporated into many of the images and that would be okay if the ink didn't bleed into what you are coloring with plus the black ink on the back of the page transfers to the page below it if you don't use a blotter. I use a piece of thin cardboard like the side of a cereal box cut to be the same size as each book as a blotter, so this didn't bother me but he forewarned! I only give this two stars because the first half of the images are pretty nice (if you don't mind so much black on some of them) but the second half of the book is just enlarged versions of many of the first half. On many of the images, they run off the page and doesn't make the image have the proper edges that Mandalas have. (See my attached photo for an example) Don't spend your money on this book when there's so many better one's out there.

This is such a great coloring book!! I definitely urge you to buy this if you really love mandala's. Not only are there 100, but there is a very large variety from simple to advanced. I honestly can't wait to start coloring in this one. There are a lot that will take a few days to even finish, maybe longer depending on how much sit down time I get. I'm truly excited about this one. It's just too pretty. The paper is medium weigh but place a few sheets of notebook paper under the page you color to prevent bleed through or indention's from colored pencils. I keep thinking about this book and what colors I want to use. I have a LOT of books and this one keeps popping out in my mind today. I received this at a discount for an honest and unbiased review. Per usual though, my reviews are very honest. I rely heavily on reviews, so I know a lot of you gals (and guys) do too. I always want to do right by my fellow colorists'. I gave this coloring book four starts because the pages are not perforated and cannot be easily removed from the book. I like to work on my designs on a clipboard and usually remove them from the book. Otherwise, the mandalas are great!

This a really nice adult coloring book. When I first received it I thought I wouldn't like it because of all the heavy black lines. But I found that the black makes the colors pop and more vibrant. The black is an important part of the pictures. The pages are single sided and are completely black on the backside of the page. My only negative is that the pages are not thick enough and get folded easily.

Gavron helps us see both sides of the second intifada in Israel. By alternatively perspectives between a 30-something Israeli yuppy and a young Palestinian reluctant terrorist, Gavron gives us both a fast paced story and a thought provoking portrait of a country that has suffered more than its fair share of tragedy. He puts a human face on both sides of the conflict and he also tells a compelling story.

Excellent exploration from two polar opposite views and successfully explores both Israeli and Palestinian experiences of violence in the Mid-East.

I UNDERSTAND THIS NOVEL WAS ORIGINALLY WRITTEN IN HEBREW THEN TRANSLATED TO ENGLISH. MAYBE THAT IS WHY IT READS SO UNEVENLY. I FOUND MYSELF BACKTRACKING TOO MANY TIMES AS SOME PARAGRAPHS FAILED TO MAKE SENSE .TO REPHRASE A PARAGRAPH FROM THE BOOK, WITH MY ADDITION IN PARENTHESES "I (THINK I) REMEMBER THE CONVERSATION. HARD TO PICK IT FROM THE REST. THERE WERE SO MANY CONVERSATIONS IT NOW SEEMS LIKE ONE LONG HALLUCINATION, LIKE ONE ENDLESS RED FOG." THE PLOT LINE IS FASCINATING WITH INSIGHTS INTO BOTH SIDES OF A CONFLICT THAT HAS THUS FAR DEFIED A PEACEFUL SOLUTION. TOO BAD IT IS SO DIFFICULT TO FOLLOW.

A friend had recommended this book and I'm glad I bought it. Very unusual and thought provoking.

While I have to give Gavron credit for taking on the frightful task of writing a novel about the suicide bombings of the second intifada (and one which incorporates both Israeli and Palestinian voices), I was kind of underwhelmed for most of this. He's obviously trying to depict an awful period without resorting to cheap political stances, but he ends up with narration that seems so listless, so hopelessly casual most of the time, that this reads more like an early draft of a better book that just never got written.The characterizations are weak and the development of them and the plot are a haphazard mess. He introduces far too many characters who revolve around Eitan and Fahmi's perspectives without having any sort of effect or real relevance within their points of view.In spite of that, Gavron does do an excellent job at hinting at a few things; the sheer mental exhaustion from fear that everyone in this society faced at this time, the ambiguity of being a first generation Israeli, of being rooted in places like Tel Aviv and Jerusalem without being truly 'rooted' there, and of the passive misery which the IDF can inflict without firing a single rubber bullet, but simply by disrupting the basic, meager infrastructure which Palestinians live under, and of the casual racism/anti-semitism that have sadly become common currency on both sides of an intractable divide.This might just be kind of an impossible topic to really write a solid novel about. Suicide bombings are already fraught with misery and hyperbolic emotions on so many levels, both direct and implicit, that trying to turn them into the centerpiece for literary fiction seems like a really dicey prospect, especially when the characters and plot are already on shaky territory to begin with.

This was a 2-sitting read. Just could not put it down. There are two primary actors in this Israeli-Palestinian comedy/drama/war story. Croc is Israeli and survives three suicide bombings. Fahmi is a Palestinian bomber who survives his own attempted martyrdom, most of the book in a coma. The chapters alternate: Croc and his life, his loves, his job, his remembrances of his military duty. He becomes a national hero. Fahmi in his coma-state, inside his head, relives his life, the intifada, what it's like to be occupied, the humiliations, the suffering. The history of his family going back to 1948, and what life was like before 1948. The Israelis hate the Palestinians, the Palestinians hate the Israelis. In Gavron's story, nothing is sacred and all participants are torn to shreds.I'm going to quote Geraldine Brooks from the front cover: Assaf Gavron has done the impossible: written a darkly funny novel about suicide bombing. In a dazzling display of empathy, Gavron creates two equally compelling narrators......This is a virtuoso work: a pitch-perfect rendering of real Israeli life in all its chaos, energy, humor and terror. ..." And there's a good blurb on the back by Etgar Keret who is no slouch when it comes to darkly humorous fiction.I won't spoil the end. I wanted to speed-read the last 50 pages because I could hardly wait to know what happened! Wow, this was really a thrilling literary experience.

This is a gimmick book--but a pleasant one at that. The front jacket matter includes the following comment that lays out the essence of this work: "Misconceptions, misunderstandings, and flawed facts finally get the heave-ho in this humorous, downright humiliating book of reeducation based on the phenomenal British best-seller." Or, as the author puts it (page xix): "This book is for the people who know they don't know very much. It contains hundreds of things that the average person doesn't know."Let's get to the book, then. One nice way of giving the reader a sense of what's involved is simply to note some of the questions and answers. Enough to give a taste, not enough to spoil reading the book."What speed does light travel at?" (Pages 56-57) It depends. In a vaccum, 186,282 miles per second. In 2000, a team at Harvard University managed to stop light, shining it into a bec (not clear what that is!) of the element rubidium. "Where do most tigers live?" (Pages 66-67) In the United States! These are captive animals. In the wild, numbers are dropping dramatically. "Where do camels come from?" (Pages 93-94) North America. Here's a new one for me (among others): "What Edison invention do English speakers use every day?" (Page 131-132) According to the book (and this is one on me), the word "Hello" was an Edisonian invention."What rhymes with orange?" (Pages 208-209) Orange is a dread word for poets. According to this volume, there are two words--Blorenge and Gorringe, both of which are proper nouns.So, there you are. A lot of fun. I don't pretend to know if all the answers to the questions posed are correct, but it's quite enjoyable to run through the questions and test your knowledge against the answers provided in the book.

Great read. This book is filled to the brim with interesting facts, each of which are self-contained and covered in 1-2 pages, which is the perfect length. It's quick enough to pick up and read for a few minutes at a time, but also long enough to give a fairly good explanation of the facts it's laying out.A lot of the book is spent challenging things most people accept as fact (do goldfish really have a 3 second memory? did Marie Antoinette really say "let them eat cake?" are you sure the Earth only has one moon?), or asking interesting questions with surprising answers (what color is water? what does the moon smell like?). If any of those examples I just listed interested you, then by all means give this book a whirl.

This is one amazing book. You don't want to put it down. As you read it, you wish there was someone standing nearby so you could share what you just read. I even had to pick up the phone and call my son to relate a section of the book right after reading. Forget what you know or think you know and open your eyes - you will start to question everything you think you know. You think you are well educated until this book throws into question what you know and goes about showing you why you are wrong. Myth buster. Buy it for yourself, buy it for friends, give it as a gift, or share your copy. Worth twice what it costs.

Given as a gift to an avid reader, keeper of facts big or small, obscure or broadly known, and self proclaimed junkie for "nickel knowledge" -the kind of stuff good for dinner parties and wowing grandchildren - who says this book as a gift was great fun and a perfect pick. (Whew!)

Bought for my 15 year old avid reader daughter. This was an Amazon suggestion after I bought my daughter the book â€œWhat If...â€ She loves it and has been reading excerpts from it since she unwrapped it.

Seemed to be a very interesting book. Filled with seldom know facts. Then the authors infuse their Catholic beliefs about Mary being a goddess and hokey myths trying to say the Bible is inaccurate. Throws a shadow of doubt as to the facts of all other chapters.

Fun read with some surprising revelations! What is nice...is this isn't the type of book you have to sit and read from front to back. I just sit for a few minutes...peruse a few pages, then I can pick it up at another time and restart anyplace in the book.

I learned a lot of interesting facts about things that I thought I already knew. This book also destroyed many beliefs held since childhood. Who knew that Rudolf the Red Nosed Deindeer was really a female? Many more myths like that are investigated and explained in this fascinating book.

Very well-documented and factual. Interest level is very consistent throughout, and for such diverse topic material, that is a big accomplishment. It it only had an index, this book could become a very useful and entertaining reference work as well.
