I’ve read more books than I can ever remember, but I have never read one before that made me physically ill.*Spoilers*He brings the woman he’s always “loved†into his home, not caring about what his girlfriend will think. His girlfriend has a token problem with it, and then nothing more is heard about it except for an occasional phone argument. What kind of girlfriend would put up with that???He seems to spend more time with his “love†than with his girlfriend. Rubbing her feet, whispering in her ear, taking her special places.That wasn’t great to begin with, but then came the part that made me ill: When he brought his girlfriend home and they went at it loud enough she couldn’t help but hear. (Which, in a normal story, would be fine.) But this is why I’ve been putting the word “love†in quotes. First off, if you love a person you shouldn’t be messing around with someone else. You definitely shouldn’t be able to function with your “love†in the next room, forcing her to listen to everything that is going on. And you don’t slyly grin at her the following morning, knowing she heard it all. And he doesn’t understand why he feels guilty? Umm...Because it’s wrong! His insane reasoning seems to be because she’ll never be his. Because why??? She’s free now. He isn’t, but he could be since he’s just using the other girl. He doesn’t want to get hurt again? Doesn’t apply here since her husband is out of the picture now. He’s not even going to try for the woman he supposedly “lovesâ€? That’s just stupid, self destructive, and cowardly. He obviously has no clue what it means to love someone.This is not love in any way shape or form. He is not only being cruel to his girlfriend, but using her when she didn’t agree to it is really bad. He is also being cruel to his “loveâ€, making her listen to him use the gf. Evil is the word that comes to mind. He can never be trusted, because if he can do this to two people he supposedly “lovesâ€, then there is no hope for a long term relationship with Anyone. And she’s an idiot for not moving out and not refusing to let him go to the dr appointments. Hmm. I guess she’s using him too. Maybe they’re meant to be.I’m only a quarter in, but there’s no way I can force myself to finish this. What a horrible story.
When I read the blurb Kelsie Rae’s debut novel, Liv, I knew I wanted to read it. I love books that are emotional and angst-filled, and Liv had it in spades.Liv married her high school sweetheart. Her life could not be any more perfect. Then tragedy hits and she loses her husband. The last thing she expected was to find out she was pregnant on the day she says goodbye to her husband. Now her entire life is turned upside down.Luke, Liv and Adam were best friends in high school. But Luke had a secret. When he and Adam have a falling out, he walks out of their lives. He was never supposed to see them again. But when Adam dies, he goes back to say goodbye to his best friend. When he sees Liv needs help, he cannot help but step in.I loved Liv and Luke. Liv was heartbroken after her loss and was trying to find a way to move forward and provide for her child. Even as she deals with her grief. Luke was so protective of Liv. He was sweet and caring. He put his life on hold for Liv. Both characters were so relatable and likable.The more time Luke and Liv spend together, you can see their chemistry. Both characters had so much to give each other. There was drama, angst, emotions and so many other things in their way, but going through their journey, you could see how much they belonged together.I absolutely loved Liv by Kelsie Rae. She gave us amazing characters and a story that will consume you. This was a beautiful story of love, hope and second chances from a debut author. I am looking forward to reading more from this author.4.5 stars! Loved it!Happy reading!
Liv made me cry throughout this novel because I was so invested in the characters and their story. Ashley @White Hot ReadsI am truly in love with Kelsie Rae's debut novel. Within the first chapter, I was in love with Liv strength and courage. She has dealt with a lot of tragedies and heartache with the loss of her parents and now her husband. There is one gift he left her with. Luke left his hometown because he was in love with the one women he could never have now with the loss of his childhood best friend he now has a chance with the one he could never have. Even if that chance is just being there for her while she deals with the loss and the new life. The trails that they go through to find their HEA. I am truly in love with all the characters. I could not put the book down but had to when life got in the way of reading.I cannot wait for Breezy's book to see how she grows and to read more from Kelsie Rae!.
This was the first release by Kelsie Rae and am I glad she decided to share her talent with us. Her writing pulls you in and doesn’t let go. It’s the kind of writing that makes you want to shoe away life just to get lost in the world she created.Liv, Adam and Luke were the three amigos in high school. Liv was a transfer who Luke fell in love with at first sight but his best friend Adam beat him to the punch. One thing led to another and Luke left for college never to return while Liv and Adam got married. Their marriage was cut short when Adam was tragically killed in a car accident. Not only did he leave her alone but with an unborn child.Just when Liv didn’t think she could carry on, she hears a ghost from her past. No not a ghost but really a blast. Luke has come back to pay his respects and to check on the woman he has loved his whole life. So naturally when he hears about her predicament, he offers to help.I loved their story. I could not stop reading. The situation that Liv and Luke were in kept me on the edge. Will Liv finally see Luke the way he sees her? Will she finally give into her feelings? My heart went out to Luke. This was a genuinely nice guy who was trying to do right by leaving town and going on with his life. I wanted him to find his happily ever after with Liv. I wanted Liv to find her happily ever after with Luke, her person after all she had endured and lost.This book will have you reading non-stop and wanting more.
