I really enjoy any book written by Kate Avery Ellison! She has a knack for storytelling and it really shows in her books! And the way she describes things and sets the scene for you, it's like you're really there! When I read her Frost series, I was in Florida in the middle of summer and still felt cold whenever I read her books. This series does not disappoint either. She paints a great picture of this gorgeous underwater world and I enjoyed all the twists and turns in the plot.So this book picks off with Aemi finding out that she a member of one of the richest families in Itlantis and spends the majority of the book investigating her father's death, while still grieving the loss of her friend/maybe-more-than-a-friend Nol. There is also some action because while she is trying to come to grips with her new station in life, her father's death, and missing Nol, someone tries to kill her multiple times! There are some great plot twists in this book and Ellison does a great job at giving us just enough clues to make us ask more questions! It's intriguing and frustrating at the same time. It's a very exciting book and Aemi is a very strong female character who doesn't need a man to help her with anything.My only complaint would be it felt like she was too strong of a character sometimes...she had a lot of responsibility on her shoulders and she never confided in anyone really. There is a great cast of supporting characters that help her out, which is great, but I felt like she shouldn't have to be the strong one all the time. It felt like Aemi was isolated a lot, which is something I also noticed Ellison did with Lia Weaver in Frost. It felt very lonely... But anyways, this book is still great and the plot moved along nicely although still left us with tons of questions (which I hope get answered in the next book!).http://teabookslover.blogspot.com/

The sequel to Of Sea and Stone features Aemi coming to grips with her new life in Primus. She sets out on a quest to learn more about her father and why he was framed for treason, all the while dodging attempts on her life. Meanwhile, the Dron aren't taking too lightly to being attacked by Itlantis' rogue military faction.This second book continues the story nicely. There is a lot of great action, mystery, and reveals. I really loved the parts about the Dron and I found Aemi's etiquette instructor to be a really fun character. The story is mostly set in Primus with a little bit in Arctus and some in a Dron territory. I hope we learn more about other cities in future books. The story is Aemi-centric and really driven by her exploration of her past and who is trying to kill her. The senate and politicians in the novel continue to be bumbling self-centered bureaucrats, of which Aemi can expect little help.I really enjoyed this one and looking forward to the next.

Although in did enjoy this book very much, I'm sad to say it defiantly wasn't as good as the first.(*spoilers*)The first thing that really popped out at me was that the first half was very bland and hardly any progress was made, aemi spent the whole first 50% looking for information about her father and barely came up with anything.The second was nol. I loved their love/hate relationship in the first book, although I think the progression wasn't well laid out, they went from hating each other to randomly liking each other, even though we (aemi) barely know anything about him. However I loved their relationships dynamic so I held out hope for this book. However, this was pretty disappointing. When they're finally with each other again, aemi goes in circles because every time nol makes a comment to the commander to save face she feels betrayed and just keeps going around in circles. And then Nol keeps getting mad at aemi cuz she wants to live with her family, something she's never had before, and live where they were "enslaved" when really they were rescued and although they had to work, it was for a good family. He just seemed to have no sympathy for aemi, she grew up alone without a family and literally has been a slave her entire life, and he's too busy drowning in self pity about the, maybe, one month he got sit around and study. I understand he was upset about his family but every single time he seems to overlook that that is what aemis life has always been like, except WORSE. I'm just really sad because I really liked him in the first book.Ok, now that all of that's out of the way, I loved the book because of secondary characters and the overall idea of this series. Rob and her teacher are what really save this book for me and I'm defiantly gonna read the next one.

I am really enjoying this series as I did her other one. I definitely believe that the book progressed the story line and character development, but it still felt like middle book syndrome (assuming it's a 3 book series planned). I completely understand why it was written that way but came out with more questions than I started. I am greatly looking forward to the next book so that I can learn all the secrets and plot intrigue!!

Gotta keep going, gotta keep reading...This story is so good I can't put it down!!! I'm so intrigued, this is awesome!

This story see the characters growing through more adversity and intrigue. Twists abound and plans are wrecked and boo 3 promises to be epic too.

I have enjoyed the writing of Kate Avery Ellison very much. The books she writes always draw me in and keep me wanting more. I love the adventure and mystery of these books. This book is no exception. There is romance, but it is not the whole purpose of the story. I like that. I also like the fact that her books are clean and wholesome..books I could share with a teenager! That is important to me!

Good sequel to the first one. I loved how the characters continue to grow and how you see relationships change. I do wish more time had been spent investigating the relationship between Now and Aemi . it is a complex situation and isn't expressed well. The twist in the plot get a little dizzying but not so much that you lose track.

The hair loss info is pitiful and mostly hijacked from Internet web sites. Everything about this screams cut and pasted and constructed in less than a few hours. Can’t recommend to anybody. The writer has a poor understanding of English and is basically throwing out any garbage out there that he can to establish Kindle Unlimited income. Basically a scammer here. To quote an actual sentence from the writings, “Hair loss is caused by a number of different causes., shows you the general mentality of the writer.

This publication doesn't really give any information that would help someone looking for a way to prevent hair loss.There are far better publications out there in my opinion.

Reads like cut and paste material with typos and grammatical errors. Not extensive and specific enough.

Useful information except the recommendation to see your doctor - I've yet to have a GP who gave a hoot about my hair. I like the breakdown of causes, that was enlightening.

My father is in his 60's and almost has a full head of hair, except for a small thin spot at the top. While my hair is still as thick as it's always been, I have been noticing my hairline receding ever so gradually. Don't think I'd be putting much of his advice into practice, but if he has something on self-publishing and promoting a book and website to sell his coaching, it might be worthwhile.Despite his suggestion to read his book 10-15 times to get the most out of it, I'll give you the crumbs. Be yourself. Be confident in that self and project it. Be humorous. Pay attention, ask questions and listen to the answers. There, saved you the trouble of having to even read it once.

A woman that has very low interest in her current boyfriend may be waiting until she meets someone to break up with him. There are a lot of women that will not break up with a boyfriend until the woman has a replacement. There are some women out there that will date and marry guys when they are not in love. Some of the women are primarily looking for security.

As a woman reading this, I even learned more about the small nuances of how I communicate with men that I hadn't considered and were pretty accurate. It also reminded me of my own worth, too; and that deep within myself I don't wish to settle for anything less than what I truly want to see in a man. I'd love to evangelize this book: It's like a cure for that nasty co- and counter-dependency. It'd be really great to see more men out there who are truly themselves and comfortable doing it, centered, strong, and sure of themselves. (Sure and centered; not arrogant, narcissistic, or controlling). It'd make everyone better. I've missed expressing my feminine side with a man that I knew/felt it was totally safe to do so with. I'm positive that many other ladies feel the same.I'd also love to see a woman's version!

i bought this book with the hope of attracting an ex back. truth is she came back, but by then I was so jazzed about what id learned that I didn't want it anymore. I feel a new confidence and new found self worth through my interactions with women as a male. I never realized how much I coud improve as ive usually been successful before reading this. the big message I took away was once I had this knowledge my self worth increased and other areas of my life I wanted to venture into where I had previously fear, became more of an exciting challenge to meet. totally recommend to any male that's ready to get a new view on love, attraction, and masculinity

I am on my second reading of this ebook. I am learning that many things I did were the wrong things to do like chasing my fiance' when she needed time away from me. Corey's book repeated emphasizes that is wrong to do but when you are in love and expect to lose that person not paying more attention that is what you do.I know now what would be the best things to do for both myself and keep my integrity as a man and what would be best for my lady too. Corey suggests reading this book 10-15 times for comprehension. I am not sure I will make that many times but will read it at least 6-7 times since I have better retention than most people that read.Independent of age the advice is applicable and I intend to use as much of the guidance it provides that I can.I recommend this ebook to any guy that is new to dated or been married a long time because the information pertains to all men.3% is a reference to the percentage of men that really understand women. Corey is spot on with his guidance...

Ok so I have read this book once, i will read it 10-15 times total as recomended. So far between corey’s videos on youtube and this book my confidence and success asking women out and having fun have improved dramatically. Just a month after finding corey on youtube. I’m telling every man I know about this!!! A good warm up book for guys who think they are so called nice guys may also be helpful. No more mr. Nice guy but that book does almost nothing to explain in detail how to be the way you really need to be...10’stars.

Outstanding! Phenomenal! This book delivers way more than what it promises!Know that when you get this book you are getting a book that promises to give an overview of the entire Civil War era, from approximately 1845-1865. It does not promise an in-depth treatment of every significant event during those years, but it does promise to give enough info that you can easily understand how one event led to another.What this book actually gives you is so much more. There is way more in-depth treatment here than I expected for a one-volume look at the time period. There is a ton of information given dealing with the Compromise of 1850, for example, and the effects of the Fugitive Slave Law. There are literally dozens of pages talking about American life and the differences between North and South as they entered the 1850's. There is a lot of descriptions of slavery and slave holdings at the time. In fact, it is not until you approach page 200 that the book begins to deal with the states leaving the union in 1860 and 1861. There is just a lot of background, and I love that. It really gives the reader a chance to be immersed in the time period, to really understand the thinking and the motivations of the groups of people involved.Then, of course, there are over 400 pages of treatment on the Civil War itself. It is a military historian's dream come true.The one thing you don't get in this book is any major insight into the character of significant individuals themselves. Well, with the exception of Lincoln and Grant, that is. There is significant space devoted to the character and writings of those two. But besides them, you don't really get to KNOW any of the other major figures of the Civil War. You won't learn much about the character of John Brown, Robert E. Lee, James Longstreet, Jefferson Davis, Fredrick Douglas or others. But you knew that walking into this book, so that does not bother me. This is, after all, an overview of the time period, not a biography.One thing you will get in this book, if you purchase the illustration edition, is exceptional images throughout. The pictures, newspaper clippings, maps, and drawings are incredible. A history buff could spend hours just drooling over the images contained in here. The author is clearly not only a master of his subject but also a lover of his subject. To have spent the huge amount of time that it obviously took to find all of these images and have them included in here is evidence that he really, really knows what he is talking about in this book and loves what he is talking about.What a great book! Anyone with even a casual interest in the Civil War period has to pick up this book. It is well worth whatever price you pay for it!

It's been fifteen years since "Battle Cry" first appeared -- and time has only enhanced its standing. The book is still the place to start for anyone seeking to understand the war era or, for that matter, anyone seeking to understand the sinews of American national identity. Some readers have taken issue with "Battle Cry"'s triumphant tone; recent books have tended to stress cynicism over affirmation. Still, McPherson's achievements here are legion. This new edition contains hundreds of impressive photographs -- most readers will delight in these, even if McPherson's original footnotes had to be cut in order to make room.

I was reading this book on my Kindle. The maps were impossible to see, so I found this one used with shipping around $11.00. The pictures and maps are very well done. As far as the book itself, nothing short of outstanding. It is very readable, easy to follow, and gives a sense of what it was like to live during this period. Personally, I enjoyed reading it on my Kindle. The feature "x-ray" makes the Kindle a viable reading tool.

I bought this book as a gift for a civil war lover---He saw it at the library, loved it and wanted his own copy. It is a huge book and very nice quality. He loves it.

An excellent and well-written book covering the Civil War era. Great illustrations, too. I'm impressed that Mr. McPherson wrote all the captions for the illustrations. I keep hoping it will be reprinted with new material for the 150th anniversary.

This reads like an unedited manuscript, complete with writerly errors: your instead of you're, it's instead of its, then instead of than. The formatting on my ebook was messed up and the punctuation was inconsistent.And then there's the matter of plot, or somewhat lack thereof. Trisha, a gender-bendy lone wolf goes on an unexpected adventure, starting with a day-long stint in a thinly-veiled Wet Seal, then going on to a drug and sex fueled hitchhiking excursion with a girl she just met that afternoon. There was no cohesive thread, other than the entire thing feeling like a drug trip. If you want to know what being high is like without actually smoking, just read this.So why did I keep reading this book? Simply because the prose and use of language are masterful. Tea is a gifted poet who wrote a poorly edited stream-of-consciousness novel. If you're a writer looking to loosen your language, this book hits the spot, but if you're a sucker for a well plotted and edited story, move along.

I have always loved memoirs and coming of age novels, but the best kind are with angst, teenage, experimenting girls. I can relate to their feelings and outlandish thoughts/actions. The whole story played for me like a perfect movie. I cannot wait to read more from Michelle

Entertaining, relatable

Tea is spot-on at getting inside the head and life of fourteen-year-old Trisha, aimless, frustrated, and rather trashy resident of a decaying Massachusetts mill town. Her hypochondriac mother never leaves the sofa except to dig her welfare checks out of the mail, her relentlessly optimistic older sister is a graduated hairdresser whose goal is being selected by a reality TV show, and her view of the world is filtered through the local mall -- where, with the assistance of her sister's Olympics-level lies, she manages to get a job at the most popular teen clothing store. Until she's fired before lunch the first day. But all this is a character-establishing lead-in to Trisha's discovery of Rose, a scrawny, fearless, adventuresome girl with a lesbian mother and a cigarette voice. The relationship between the two -- established within hours of their introduction and apparently played out before the next morning -- will have evangelical parents screaming to their local library about the "homosexual agenda," but, hey: This is life. The author also has an ear for sardonic description (a vodka/energy drink combo?) and an eye for painting character portraits that come to life. Don't worry about the putative morality these girls don't much subscribe to -- just enjoy the book. It's a messy, questing coming-of-age you won't soon forget.

Think of the whimsy and the magical alignment of lost souls that one might find in a Francesca Lia Block book. Toss in some dark twists a la Chuck Palahniuk or David Lynch. Bring in an innocent yet observant (and witty!) narrative voice like that in Speak or The Perks of Being a Wallflower, and you arrive at a hint of Rose of No Man's Land. Don't infer that it is formulaic, or that it can be strictly compared to any one of these books. I was swept away by this book, and every time I had a handle on what it was about, the narrator's life would wrest out of her control and the direction of the story would change.Our 14-year-old narrator Trisha is a loner, happy to wear the same beat-up oversized t-shirt all summer. Her mom hasn't left the couch in years as she self-diagnoses herself with infections, with autism, with Tourette's, and any number of other TV-news-topics-of-the-moment. Mom's loser boyfriend Donnie spends his days working on his car, storing merchandise that fell off a truck in Trisha's bedroom, and letting Trisha steal his lukewarm beers when she needs to escape from life. Trisha's older sister, currently filming herself to audition for The Real World, makes Trisha her new project, and transforms her into someone who can get a job at the hottest, trendiest store in the mall.Rose of No Man's Land is the story of Trisha and Rose, who meet at the mall. Rose is a whirlwind of activity who shoplifts, steals, hitchhikes, and does whatever comes to mind in the moment. The third member of the action is absent throughout the entire novel, but central to the plot. Kim Porciatti, a girl high above Trisha's social strata, is all the buzz in town because tried to kill herself. Pogo, Volumes 1&2, are beautiful books. As I opened my just-arrived volumes, I was expecting just a basic hardbound book of comics. What I found was a pair of books full of love. Let me explain. As a child, I spent my summers on the family ranch, miles from anything, where reading material was pretty limited. There were, however, a small collection of Pogo books, so I read them over and over, every summer. I still have those books, though the bindings are rotting, and they are very special to me. I bought these reprints, thinking this would be a nice way to read Pogo without further damaging those old volumes. I really loved those old books, but I never figured that other people put such value on Pogo comics as I did. Why would they? It was rare that I even come across someone who recognizes Pogo quotes, such as "we have met the enemy and he is US!" or Deck us all with Boston Charlie.So, when I opened the first volume of this set, I was unprepared for what I saw. Already the slipcover had impressed me. Beautifully done, with no advertising on it, fully covered with gorgeous color panels from Pogo. But the books themselves... Wonderful binding with embossed Walk Kelly art -- those ever present swamp trees -- opened to reveal typical Pogo endpapers, on luscious heavy paper that easily lays flat without any coaxing from the reader. The print is so crisp and perfect, you'd swear it was the original printing, maybe even better than the original. No crowding; three strips to the page, maximum. The pages are 9" tall by 11" wide, a generous format for horizontal comic strips. Everything about the books suggest that the people who got the artwork together, assembled and published them, truly love Pogo themselves. These are books that are made to please the people who made them. We're the lucky beneficiaries of their labor and love.In some fields of publication, I'd expect books like this to go for $150 for the pair, easily. To get something of this quality for this price is truly a bargain. If you're thinking about buying these books, quit thinking and just do it. You want them or you wouldn't be reading this. You're not EVER going to find anything better than this, or cheaper, so take the plunge and One-Click these wonderful books. When you get them, make some time to put your feet up and enjoy that old Walk Kelly humor, unlike anything else you've encountered in this world. Gosh-a-mickle-pickle-dickle, you know you want to see Strawberry Shortcut (Pogo, in disguise) woo Albert into giving up cigars, Beauregard leading a search party to look for himself, or Albert, Churchy laFemme, and Mouldy Mort (the frog) in the business of stirrin' cakes. Then there's the rather moving story of the search for the lost pup dog, with Albert carrying a sleeping Pogo back home after searching deep into the night, in vain. And plenty more of the great stories of the early Pogo strip. Don't hesitate. Buy this. Give it as gifts. Make sure this sells well, so that we can be sure of seeing the rest of the volumes. I want all of them! Now!Many thanks to the people who so lovingly brought this collection to us. I could not be more pleased.

This is an incredible set. It contains two volumes of both syndicated daily and Sunday strips from 1949-52, in two sections(Daily and Sunday), each page with the week dated. A lot of work was put into these, and if your a Pogo fan, you better jump on this.I hope that, despite the sad passing of Walt Kelly's daughter, Carolyn Kelly (Just as the 4th volume of this set was completing editing in April 2017), these sets continue to come out until we have them all. She really put her heart and soul into these with Kim Thompson, and deserves much credit for enamoring her father's legacy with the strip's fans, and hopefully, introducing the strip to generations to come.Bonuses include a forward by Jimmy Breslin in Volume one, and Satirist Stan Freberg in Volume two, a section for all the strips, pre-syndicated, from the New York Star in 1948, Swamp Talk, Annotations and Historical data by R.C. Harvey, Editors notes by Kim Thompson and Carolyn Kelly, a wonderfully laid out table of contents with a synopsis of each week...But the best part of this to me is obvious in the painstaking delivery of quality of product. The book is magnificently put together, 9 inches tall by 11 inches long (the strips are huge man!) quality paper, beautiful covers for both volumes in a sturdy slide in case.Get it!

Set in the Okefenokee Swamp of the southeastern United States, the strip often engages in social and political satire through the adventures of its anthropomorphic funny animal characters.Pogo combined both sophisticated wit and slapstick physical comedy in a heady mix of allegory, Irish poetry, literary whimsy, puns and wordplay, lushly detailed artwork and broad burlesque humor.Revisit Albert Agitator, Pogo Possum, the turtle Churchy LaFemme, and Howland Owl, among others. One of my favorites was Sarcophagus MacAbre: a buzzard and the local mortician. "Doom Looms!"I find myself using some of Kelly's nonstop malapropisms, fractured grammar, "creative" spelling and mangled polysyllables such as "incredibobble" and "hysteriwockle," plus invented words such as the exasperated exclamations "Bazz Fazz!," "Rowrbazzle!" and "Moomph!" Nobody understands.Or when I get the Christmas spirit and quote Kelly's popular song: Deck us all with Boston Charlie.Deck us all with Boston Charlie,Walla Walla, Wash., an' Kalamazoo!Nora's freezin' on the trolley,Swaller dollar cauliflower alley-garoo!Then there is the political commentary with a wildcat named "Simple J. Malarkey," an obvious caricature of Senator Joseph McCarthy; communist leaders Fidel Castro, who appeared as an agitator goat named Fido, and Nikita Khrushchev, who emerged as both an unnamed Russian bear and a pig.In the early 1970s, Kelly used a collection of characters he called "the Bulldogs" to mock the secrecy and perceived paranoia of the Nixon administration. The Bulldogs included caricatures of J. Edgar Hoover (dressed in an overcoat and fedora, and directing a covert bureau of identical frog operatives), Spiro Agnew (portrayed as an unnamed hyena festooned in ornate military regalia), and John Mitchell (portrayed as a pipe-smoking eaglet wearing hightop sneakers.)[12] Always referred to but never seen was The Chief, who we are led to believe was Nixon himself[citation needed]. (Nixon eventually made his appearance—as a reclusive, teapot-shaped spider named Sam.)J. Edgar Hoover apparently read more into the strip than was there. According to documents obtained from the FBI under the Freedom of Information Act, Hoover had suspected Kelly of sending some form of coded messages via the nonsense poetry and Southern accents he peppered the strip with. He reportedly went so far as to have government cryptographers attempt to "decipher" the strip.Walt Kelly wrote for 24 years. Now we have the comic strips being reprinted in 12 volumes. A classic lives on!To quote Kelly's most famous commentary on human foibles "We have Met the Enemy, and He is Us."
