I find that these principles work in the business world as well. I have my own business and found that these principles work quite well in it. I think the world would be a better place if these ideas were implemented in many different venues. I highly recommend reading and absorbing these ideas and systems regardless of your field of endeavor.
Systems Thinking is a great topic but this book did not advance my understanding and depth of the material. The author seemed to research the topic and then repeat and summarize what others have written. She gave credit to most of her sources so, a star for that. This book is like Cliff Notes but then bloated with simplistic, surface-level examples and turns in a self-help book at the end. This is by no means a book for business either. It is just a conversation about a topic the author researched by reading other books. Sadly, there are also many cringe-worthy editing errors. Book left me disappointed.
Decent book about how to start thinking in terms of larger systems and their cause/effects. I also enjoyed the author's biographical accounts and her personal statements on why or how thinking in systems has come in handy or helps her.
it might be useful if I were teaching a truly introductory class in systems thinking.
If you don't think you're a systems thinker, you will be after reading McKey's book. It's practical and lays out very well defined ideas on systems thinking in ways that are accessible. She offers great scenarios to apply what you've learned.
Some good information as introduction, but the author’s voice is just bizarre. More careful editing could have made this book much shorter and more focused.
A lot of seemingly non-relevant examples and doesn’t elaborate enough on applying systems. Illustrations are amateur. Information is accurate so it gets 2 stars.
