Gina feels that watercolor should be fun and approachable so she gives the reader positive experiences to relax them into the artistic process. She uses watercolor and mixed media with step-by-step suggestions for creating art that is personal, joyful and free. She uses her favorite quotes and words working them into the composition. She starts with the tools explaining why she uses a specific product. A listing of mixed-media supplies are also given. She presents color theory, terminology, schemes, and temperature. She has a five-step painting method that involves no drawing. Her lessons follow the color wheel with lovely demonstrations infused with quotes. An index makes locating lessons and painting easy. This book is a must-have for students of art at the High School or University level. Teachers, librarians, artists, and crafters will find it a wonderful reference. This is alot of mixed media involved. Lots of different things to buy to produce the art in this book. It's a really nice book but I didn't think by the title there would be a whole lot else entailed. Lots of different grounds are needed to get the results here. LOTS!!!
I love this book! Gina creates beautiful mixed media art. Her vibrant art style makes me happy. The book includes many of her vivid art pieces. The step-by-step instructions are also easy to follow. I’ve completed three so far.I have many art instruction books and I’d have to say this is one of my favorites. I highly recommend it. Also, her instructional videos are great. I own her four color art lessons and four of her DVDs.
I have not followed any projects exactly yet, but it is so inspiring and fun and approachable yet jam packed with information. I also love all the nerdy color info. So it is pretty to flip through - but also so well written. The movement through the color wheel and color theory...really Gina Lee Kim you did such a fantastic job on this!
I love this book! Not only is it absolutely beautiful, full of colorful creations - it's a treasure trove of great ideas that are easily approachable. Extremely well written - with insights from the artist that are heart-centered and authentic. Really appreciate how Gina takes you on a journey through the color wheel. This one's a keeper!
I LOVE this book! There are so many cool ideas to try and the inspiration is limitless! This book makes me want to drop everything and dive right in! Definitely one of the best books on watercolor/mixed media that I own.....and I have many.
This book is beautiful! Ive been picking it up every free moment I can find since I go it. I cannot wait to get my paints out again ,until then I’ll loving reading all the juicy information and looking and the gorgeous projects!! I love how it is set up flowing through the color wheel.
