If you are looking to confront someone who is difficult and reactive, understanding how to speak to their fear while respecting the heart of the healthy confrontation will create bridges to healing in both of you. Totally worth the read and I couldn't put it down because I knew this coming conversation was going to be hard and love was more important than pride.

A wonderful and extensive read. The authors cover all aspects of this topic from head to toe. No question is left unanswered. There I so much information contained I know I will have to read it again.The illustrations and mock conversations really help you as a reader visualize the authors principles being put into practice.Great book worth your time and investment.

Meh. I read Boundaries and thought it was good, so decided to order this too. It rehashed a lot of the same material, was far too long, and rambled on. They need a better editor. Some decent concepts that could be boiled down into a 30-page pamphlet.

As a 56 year old male I learned a lot. I thought the book well grounded and I wish I had read it years ago. It certainly would have helped some relationship issues

Good resource, I bought the audio version as well. Easy to listen to and gives good ways to communicate better. I'm just over half way through the book and part of me wished it had more examples or role-plays but I guess they can't cover every scenario. This is something that will take time and practice. The Boundaries book is good too.

Very helpful information and easy to apply. I am a big fan of all their books, life changing.

Please remember to check your child's computer access. This was a very complete book and I agree with other reviewers that it is a good source of information... however my child google terms shortly after reading this book, and I did not realize that my safety settings do not block google images. :( Not too much harm done (I think!), but thought I should warn other parents... I explained to my child that computers save browsing history so people can see what others have searched/looked at, that there is inappropriate and harmful content online, that computers can get viruses or other issues when inappropriate links are opened, etc. But first I did freak out (while trying not to show it), so I hope this helps other parents! Also, if anyone has comments on this for how to handle, I would appreciate any suggestions (can you reply to a review? hmmm), thanks!

Please note that this book does not hold back when talking about sex nor does it hold back with its pictures. You need to decide your comfort levels about sex and what you feel is appropriate for your children.I found this book to be very informative and written at a level for preadolescent kids to be able to easily understand. It's laid out with illustrations and small comics in a way to help keep their attention. It does show naked bodies, genitalia , people having intercourse, and so forth. It covers a variety of topics that are important in today's world such as no means no, how to stay safe online, be careful what you text and email, and of course, safe sex practices.

I am amazed at how much I enjoyed this book. It's a great tasteful presentation of the human body with lots of scientific information on how babies are made all the way through childbirth. Surprisingly, it didn't make me feel uncomfortable at all. It has short easy to read paragraphs, comic strips, and lots of diagrams. To me, it seems most age appropriate for ages 10-12, though every family/situation is different.*Let's be honest, what you really want to know about this book: how it defines sex!! So here it is: "When a woman and a man want to make a baby, they hug, and cuddle and kiss and feel very loving, and get very close to each other - so close that the man's penis goes inside the woman's vagina. When this happens, it is called "sexual intercourse."" No technical diagrams, just a picture of a man and women in bed kissing under a blanket with hearts in the air. It also very tastefully covers homosexuality in terms of love, and briefly touches on masturbation: "touching or rubbing the private parts of your own body because it feels good is called masturbation...every family has its own thoughts and feelings about masturbation. Some people and some religions think it's wrong to masturbate... most doctors agree that masturbation is perfectly healthy and normal - and cannot hurt your body."Hope this helps you decide if this is the right book for you!

So, for other moms/dads out there needing to have "the talk" with their child, I highly recommend this book as a guide. I'm a nurse, so i can talk alllll about anatomy and processes, but i wanted something with pictures i could use to facilitate that would be better than what i could draw and not so real that she'd be grossed out. I bought this book over a year ago waiting for the moment I'd need it. Well, today, it was finally time to address some of my 9yr old daughter's questions. What i like about this book is that it's worded so well that a child could potentially read it on their own, although i recommend reading together. We read through the first half together, saving the growth of a baby in utero for another time. I would summarize/ elaborate sometimes and answer any questions that came up, but to honest, this pretty much answered her questions. Plus, some of it is written in "comic book" style, which she loves reading and kept her attention. It even has a chapter on good touch, bad touch. We did read through the parts that discussed homosexuality and masturbation. I feel like it's important for her to understand. I also used those parts as a way to discuss how others may feel about those topics. It is a lot of information and I am sure she isn't going to remember it all, but I told her where I would keep it if she ever wants to refer back to it. Great tool!

As a parent of two young learners, these kind of books are always a bonus to add to our collection. Our kindergarten and first grade children enjoy learning about many different subjects, and books like this are very useful tools.This book very nicely balances text with visuals which I think is very important. Little learners are still very much visual learners and the colorful & detailed pictures help to draw them in and keep them engaged while the simple yet informative text helps little learners understand basic ideas about the subject being presented - in this book that teaches them about our first president of the United States, George Washington.I liked how the book gives some details about out first president, and works to create a connection between the reader and what they are learning. Seeing the pictures and being able to make those connections - it's important to understand what you are going to learn about, and the book nicely constructs a foundation for more learning the through imagery and information to take place. The pictures are colorful and nicely detailed.I was able to purchase this item at a discount in exchange for my honest and unbiased review. This review contains only my opinions and I recommend this book.

Another excellent publication from Baby Professor's collection by Speedy Publishing. As always, short story with enough material to keep small children with plenty of interest and much to discuss further.You have to love this book about our Founding Father and First President George Washington, it is good to share with any small childen.This book contains excellent art and illustrations, basic knowledge suitable for any small children but also enjoyable content for any adult. It is written in easy language and certainly it will not go into deeper biographical details but it is good enough as basic information. It does contain illustrations about old paintings related to George Washington but it doesn't have explanation or very little about. I know that this book is for very small children, kindergarten for example, but it could have a little more information or guidelines included on some of the illustrations shown.Anyway, this is a great book, I did like it a lot and I do recommend to anyone.

First grade US History: the first President. Warning this review contains spoilers. I wanted to like this book. However I can not give a book a good rating if they do not use proper grammar. The second page with text contains one complete sentence and the sentence fragment “His father, a landowner and a planter” I at first had thought that this sentence continued on the next page, but sadly it did not. Over all this is a good book that presents a good facts about George Washington, commonly thought to be the first president of the United States. I think that while this book is lacking it is a good place to start the discussion with first graders about who George Washington was. The sketches in this book are really nice. I wish they had cited the artist and the name of the work somewhere. This book gives the fact that Washington was married. He married Martha, who was a rich widow. This book then continues on to tell us that George Washington was president for two terms from 1789-1797. The next fact stated is that he is the only president to have been elected unanimously. Some historical scholars would dispute this statement, along with argue that George Washington was not the first president, but I don’t think that discussion would be able to be understood by the target audience of first graders. Next we move on to a brief mention of the American revolution and the role Washington played. We are told about the Founding fathers. Washington is referred to as the “father of his country” This book ends featuring a picture of Washington’s bust on Mt Rushmore. I received this kindle e-book for free, (at the time of my review it is free to everyone,) in exchange for my honest review.

As a teacher, I was both satisfied and disappointed with this book. For being a first grade level, I was happy to see that the book talked mainly about presidency facts and not the mythical facts that many children get while studying George Washington (like he cut down the cherry tree/material his teeth were made of). The way this book is set up is using just a few simple facts. I believe that there could be more content in this book. First graders are able to handle more than what is written in here. One things I really did enjoy about this book was the way that the author used pictures. Not only were there various pictures, but the color contrast that was used really helps set the tone for the time era. Unlike the front cover, the pictures in the book are more colonial and not cartoonish. Although I do like the use of color contrast on the photos, I do not like the idea that every other page is a picture spread and has no explanation as to what is going on in the picture. The pictures that follow the pages with text, do not depict anything the text had previous talked about. This can make it confusing for some kids. Finally the other thing I really enjoyed about the book was the color contrast between the text and the background of the page. The contrast makes the letters stand out and make it clear to what is written. This book could be a great book to use as a differentiation in the classroom if you have students who are various reading levels. I was able to receive this book for free or at a discount for leaving an honest review.

"I usually don't write book reviews. They remind me too much of a school assignment that has to conform to rules. I'm going to make an exception as there is a book I ordered several months ago that continues to hold my interest. The book combines an artist’s sketchbook or journal with 150 pages on ideas and creativity. If DaVinci had a business manager, we'd probably have seen this concept earlier. I've always liked books on creativity and ideas. When I saw a blog post by Seth Godin about The Idea Book, I was intrigued and sent an email as there wasn't an order form on the website. I didn't think too much about it until the book arrived with an invoice in Swedish. The company has since installed an easy online order form. The book is a product of Interesting.org and is written by Fredrik Härén. Fredrik is the founder of the company which is an idea brokerage firm. He’s also a well known speaker on creativity. The book is nicely balanced between 150 pages about ideas and 150 blank pages for your notes or drawings. The stories or lessons are set apart in olive green so you can easily find them. Each follows the format of title, subtitle, background and activity. The activity might be one or more questions or a challenge such as see if you can manage to listen to 50 ideas without saying anything negative about them. Each story is about a page, but no more than two. Some of the stories I've seen before, but most were new. They all illustrated a point and helped rekindle ideas or make me think. Some stories even made me laugh in public such as Einstein’s delivering the same exam twice. You can get a flavor for the book by downloading the free 30 page sample PDF file from the site. At first, I was hesitant about the size and binding. The book is hardbound and 8 x 6 and about an inch think. Previously, when I've recorded my ideas, I've used a spiral bound lined notebook. I preferred the spiral bound as it is easier for me to write and rip out pages. However, the solid construction of this binding makes me think in more permanent terms. In some ways, this format is making me more disciplined as I find myself setting aside time to read the book and capture ideas. When I fill up my 150 pages, I will undoubtedly hang onto the book. Hopefully, Fredrik will provide periodic updates or volumes so I continue my learning and idea capturing. Don't tell me you don't have any good ideas. About the Author

Volume 18 will be up there for the best of the Haikyuu!! volumes. Every chapter provides an excellent opportunity for shock and surprise for the characters. Whether it be the immense high level volleyball action from Ushiwaka, or the fantastic blocking from Tendo, or the adaptability of Nishinoya, Tsukishima, Kageyama, or even Hinata, there is just so much to enjoy in this volume that I could write thousands of words about it.The comedy is on point, the suspense is on point, and the art was pretty good.The Shiratorizawa's are all pretty good and I like each of them in their own ways. Goshiki is a perfect Ace wannabe who has to deal with being Ushiwaka's shadow. He actually has the skills for it but not the experience (the camp fire moment and the wrong targets for blocking), Tendo is a good character on the same level of Bokuto and Kuroo for teases and challenges for Tsukishima, Ohira is an excellent complement for perhaps Daichi and Suga, Shirabu is an excellent setter comparison to Kageyama, and Semi seems to be similar to Suga (third years who can come on to help turn the tide of battle).Overall this was a great volume.Bonus included an introduction to the supporting staff, a tsukki harry potter spoof bonus comic, and the usual sketches and data.
